I live in Alexandria, which John McCain’s brother, who lives there, rather disdainfully characterized as routinely Democratic during the presidential campaign. So far it has shown no sign of going Republican in General Assembly or statewide or national elections. The Republicans undoubtedly hope that the latest city council results (a Republican and an independent with GOP support) are a harbinger of better electoral prospects. Voter turn-out was low, however.
