It’s only been out for an hour, but everyone has seen the report.
Creigh Deeds’ supporters may be singing “Ain’t No Stopping Him Now.”
According to Public Policy Polling, Deeds’ surge has continued unabated. He is at 40% with McAuliffe at 26% and Moran at 24%.
PPP has Deeds:
Getting a plurality of the vote in NOVA.
Running even with McAuliffe among African-American voters
Obtaining a 40% plurality with both men and women
Running up an almost 2 to 1 margin in rural areas.
Attracting most of the anti-McAuliffe vote.
A poll released 4 days ago by SurveyUSA noted the “ususual volatility” in the race. It had independents making up 20% of the primary electorate and McAuliffe leading Deeds 37% to 31%.
The PPP Survey has independents making up 20% of the electorate and Deeds carrying them by 50% to 23%.
If the poll is accurate, volatility doesn’t even begin to capture what is happening.
PPP is describing an extraordinary consolidation of the primary vote behind Deeds.
These are brutal numbers for the other campaigns and have the capacity to drive media coverage in the final day.
If there own internals are different, my guess is that they’ll be releasing the numbers early in the morning.
