Fairfax and Montgomery (the latter in Maryland) are the two most affluent counties in greater Washington. If the former has been vexed by the question of police taking county vehicles home, the latter has been much troubled by police officers collecting generous disability pensions and then going on to other jobs. Questions of ethics are universally valid but they seem to bite particularly hard in the area around D.C., where large sums of money slosh about.
