Sarah Palin is intense, feisty, high-pitched. She is galvanizing as well as polarizing: her supporters stress the first quality. While some Republican candidates would welcome her as a campaigner on their behalf, others wouldn’t be quite so eager. Her ascent to national prominence and celebrity is a political phenomenon. As for 2012, the GOP has no clear nominee in sight and the field is open. Some Republican commentators, who think she has serious limitations, do not want her in the presidential field.
