A curious feature of the race.
We’re a little more than a month away from the election and both sides believe they’re in good shape.
Really.
Put aside the typical spin and bravado.
And they really think they’re going to win.
Each side will privately admit their weaknesses.
Dems will tell you that Creigh’s not the best candidate they’ve ever offered.
Fairfax Chamber was a disaster.
And did he really go four years after 2005 without talking to Wilder?
Pubs will admit that the thesis really hurt.
Just what we needed-
More women problems.
Still.
Each side sees a clear path to victory.
Here’s what they think.
Top Ten Reasons Why Democrats Think Deeds Will Win
10. Virginia’s actually better off than the rest of the nation
9. Voters think that Democrats have done a pretty good job in Virginia.
8. The GOP is still the Party of No
7. The Washington Post won’t let us lose
6. Women won’t vote for McDonnell
5. By the time we’re finished with him, McDonnell will look like just another right-wing ideologue
4. Obama will make voters forget the Wilder betrayal
3. Deeds is a Mark Warner Democrat
2. The polls are all moving inexorably in our direction
1. They’re more of us than them
Top Ten Reasons Why Republicans Think McDonnell Will Win
10. Voters can’t stand the Democratic Congress
9. Tim Kaine’s night job obligates him to defend Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid
8. The Democrats are the Establishment- we’re the party of change.
7. Deeds can’t debate
6. We’re more excited than Democrats
5. Wilder’s non-endorsement is more significant than anybody else’s endorsement
4. Writing the most well known Master’s thesis in the history of Virginia is not enough to make you lose an election
3. Deeds didn’t get the memo explaining that it’s only okay to raise taxes if you insist that you won’t do so during the campaign.
2. The Presidential Curse- Virginia always elects Governors from the party that doesn’t hold the presidency.
1. McDonnell’s a better candidate. Hands down.

The one statement of your post that slapped me in the face was “Deeds is a Mark Warner Democrat”.
Mark Warner is a Chuck Schumer Democrat.
If Mark Warner asked me to vote for my own mother, I would know not to do it.
Hands down? Oh, really? Have you watched him stumble to explain his thesis?
