The Republicans would sweep all three statewide offices.
The GOP would retain control of the House
But that’s not all.
Because the stakes are even higher.
The GOP would be one seat in the Senate away from controlling the entirety of state politics in Richmond.
The Democrats currently have a 21-19 advantage in the chamber.
But if the Republicans can entice one disgruntled Democrat to defect with the promise of an attractive committee assignment
Or
If Bob McDonnell can find the next Charlie Waddell,
A Democrat sitting in a Republican leaning district who would find the prospect of a greatly enhanced pension a good enough reason to accept a job in a McDonnell administration,
The GOP would have it all.
A decade of Democratic gains
Erased in a day!
Or however long it takes to find a Senate defector…
That’s what could be at stake
If the election were held today.

Local student group gets involved in the issues surrounding the upcoming Virginia elections.
John Tyler Community College (JTCC) is instrumental in improving and sustaining the quality of life here in Chester, VA. This fall, some local JTCC students have come together based upon their concern for the future and partnered with local citizens to create an expert panel discussion for the upcoming elections. They want to see more folks, particularly within their age group, become more involved in the voting process. Declare Yourself, the JTCC version, has an exciting opportunity to review these issues by offering these experts from across the Commonwealth.
Bill Murray, Dominion Resources
George Landrith, President, Frontiers of Freedom, adjunct GMU law professor

If your scenario pans out, the election to fill the unexpired term of Senator Cuccinelli becomes crucial to both parties.
Excellent point!
And even if the GOP can’t find a Senate defector, it means the Dems only shot at anything like a fair redistricting is the unlikely hope that you could keep the 21 Dem Senators together to reject all the Republican plans and force redistricting into the courts. That won’t happen, someone will cut a deal.
Hopefully, McDonnell won’t call anybody filming him “mecaca” in the next 3 weeks.
