Reading about George Allen at Liberty University one is struck afresh by how large numbers of Americans, of whom Virginia has its share, are galvanized by opposition to what they see as Government intrusion into people’s lives, as in mandating health insurance, and to saddling children and grandchildren with one’s thoughtless debts. The left would undoubtedly see this as a repetition of arguments advanced by “vested interests.”
