Chris Peace and Albert Pollard come from different political parties.

But they share one very important trait in common.

They are continually exploring ways of communicating more effectively with their constituents.

And, given the tough times that Virginians are facing, you have to admire what they’re doing, regardless of your own political leanings.

Peace, for example, represents a district that stretches across a number of counties. So he has decided to hold a telephone town hall where constituents from the entire district can call a number, ask a question, and listen to Delegate Peace respond to questions from everyone else.

A perfect way to utilize new technology!

Albert Pollard has been one of the distinctive voices on the Democratic side of the aisle for a number of years.

He got his start as an environmental activist, but I consider him a creative legislative thinker across a range of issues.

Last year, for example, Pollard joined with Republican Chris Saxman is proposing some very interesting reforms to the state’s budget process.

This week, Pollard has posted on his website (www.albertpollard.com and click under news) an interactive spreadsheet about the budget.

I believe that the public is well aware that we’ll be making a lot of tough decisions in Virginia this year.

At the end of the day, I think that they’ll be admiring leaders like Peace and Pollard who are seeking ways to ensure that they can be included in the conversation.
