AEP - Without commenting on that situation - electrical reliability in the United States is horrendous. Compare the number of electrical outages in teh US to Europe. It is clear that the US cannot match European quality. And for those who have never been to Europe - yes, it snows a lot in northern Europe. Far more than Virginia. It seesm to me that the overly cozy relationship between our politicans and regulators toward the power companies is a real problem. I’d be very interested in Barnie Day’s take on this.
Salahis - Obama is trying to keep the meeting minutes a secret because they will expose him as the pandering pawn of special interests that he is.
Jihadi Cool - I grew up as a devout Catholic of modest means in the Mt Vernon area. I never gave money to the Irish Republican Army, the priests at my parish did not recruit for the IRA and my father would have pistol whipped me if he thought I was trying to help that murderous terorist organization in any way. Why is this so hard for our areas Muslims? What would have happened if 5 American adults had been caught trying to sneak into Germany to fight for the Nazis in 1944? I bleieve they would have been tried as spies, convicted and executed by firing squad. Leniancy? Real Americans are dying in Iraq and Afghanistan. Anybody who helps the enemy (including these five idiots or any mosque who provides support in teh US) is a traitor during a time of war and should suffer the consequences.

VRE - I’d love to see the books on that organization. They are forever duping our inept state politicians in Northern Virginia. Do the riders on VRE pay the fully allocated costs of VRE?
Webb - Warner - Dumb and Dumber. Warner got over $100,000 from the pharma companies so he opposed change that will reduce their profits. Webb only got $11,000 - not enough to care. Why is this hard to understand. Warner is bought and paid for. Meanwhile, Webb votes to move the health care bill forward last night. This, for all practical purposes, was the last chance to kill the bill. Expect to see “Honest Jimbo” now vote against the bill so that he can claim that he never supported it when he comes up for re-election in 2012. Hopefully, the GOP will be in a position to keep him honest. They should be running TV ads against him right now while his duplicity is fresh in everyone’s mind.

Charge for garbage pick-up - Why not? You want a government service, you pay for that service. That’s a lot better than more income taxes that disappear down the special interest infested rathole of the General Assembly.
Town Center Plan - Too bad. I have long thought that Virginia Beach and Charlottesville were the two places in Virginia where the potential for additional economic development was the best.
Areva project - If Newport News wants to thwart a significant job creation program then the General Assembly should cut off Newport News from any subsidies provided by residents from elsewhere in the state. Newport News can become financially self-sufficient by taxings its own citizens and only its own citizens sufficient to pay for everything it consumes - roads, schools, police, etc.
