Parts of the country more used to snow and ice than ours have the equipment and expertise to clear it more quickly and efficiently. A Chicagoan in Washington pronounced the storm a mere dusting by his city’s standards. The United States Senate, however, has been meeting at all hours
through the storm and its aftermath, locked in combat over health care.
I lived in Chicago for 2 years. This would have been a notable storm - even by Chicago standards. Of course, if Washington in unpalatable to some refugees from Chicago - I’d suggest that they return to the windy city. I will peronally buy the airline ticket back to the land of Chicago dogs, Italian Beef and Old Style for one resident of Washington’s Pennsylvania Ave. However, I don’t think that will be necessary. Given his first year in office I suspect he will get an all expenses paid trip back home in January, 2013.
Also, be careful to watch the behavior of Sen. Jim Webb throughout this health care debacle. His actions help convince me that the United States Senate is the second more useless, least honest organization on the face of the planet Earth. Only Virginia’s General Assembly is worse,
