Stan Parris’ electoral slogan of many years ago, “Parris in the Springtime,” is one of those puns which are both inevitable and good.
Reading his obituary, I am struck that though he was born and educated elsewhere (Illinois), he became a Virginian by virtue of long residence. And like Tom Davis and Gerald Connolly after him he moved from the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to the U.S. House of Representatives.
