About the projected Fairfax ban on smoking at bus shelters. Fifty years ago one of my professors in Philadelphia regularly smoked in class. Now there are rooms in federal buildings to which smokers are banished. With these getting scarcer, one sees smokers outside buildings and there are strict rules about the distance they need to maintain. Some parts of the country are much more exercised about second-hand smoke than others. There is a sociological study in the making.
