I have not met Senator Mark Warner but he comes across as a thoroughly efficient person. I imagine he knows Virginia well from his days as Governor but he is not going to rest on past knowledge, as his working his way across the state during the summer shows. He must be a good listener. How he comes across in the more conservative sections of the state may prove crucial in the next election, as may his ability to overcome general anger with Democrats and incumbents.
Despite being a consrvative I cannot support the execution of Teresa Lewis (or anyone else for that matter). The legal system in the United States is horribly corrupt. Under no circumstances should that corrupt system have the right to take a life in the name of the people.
Bob McDonnell had lots of time to rail against fornicators and gays in his thesis. Perhaps he should have read the bible more carefully … especially the “shall not kill” parts.
I blogged on this in more detail last week over at Bacons’ Rebellion. You can read my post here …
