Good to hear that George Allen has again apologized for the mecaca comment.
That’s a start.
Now if he will apologize for the remainder of the comments in that video.
During the videotaped comments Allen was heard telling the western Virginia crowd how much he loves “the Real Virginia”.
To be clear:
1. George Allen is a Californian who moved to Virginia while in college. He moved because his father (a legendary figure in the NFL) became the coach of the Washington Redskins.
2. George Allen lives in Fairfax County. As a former Virginia governor and US Senator Mr. Allen could live anywhere he likes … including “the real Virginia”. However, he prefers to live in “the fake Virginia” while insulting the intelligence of citizens across Virginia.
This leaves open two questions as we head to the 2012 elections:
1. Will California George continue to live in Northern Virginia while pledging his personal fealty to “the real Virginia”?
2. Will the people who live outside Northern Virginia be daft enough to believe him?
3. Will anybody in Northern Virginia for vote him?
Allen’s only real strength is the weakness of his presumed opponent - Tim Kaine.
It’s a long way to election day. Things can change. Maybe George Allen will come out of the closet as a “fake Virginian”. Maybe Tim Kaine will hypnotize everybody and make them forget that he is the DNC Chairman (and forget his term as governor for that matter). Or … maybe we’ll be wishing that Jim Webb would reconsider.
